Free Will… Constraint or Freedom?
Morning Reflection:
We are not as free as we imagine, nor as constrained as we fear… we exist somewhere in between. Circumstances surround us from every side, yet there always remains that small space of awareness where we choose who we are. Freedom does not mean changing everything around us, but choosing our attitude toward what we cannot change. From that choice, our story begins.
Evening Reflection:
We live in a world where we do not create all its details; we inherit much before we choose anything. Our genes, our environment, our experiences… all draw paths we cannot deny. Yet the human being is not merely a result of these forces, but is distinguished by the ability to be aware of them.
Freedom is not the absence of constraints, but the awareness of them. To recognize what is imposed upon us, and then decide how we respond. In that subtle space between what happens to us and what we choose in response, our humanity reveals itself.
We may not always be able to change our circumstances, but we can reinterpret them. We do not choose every event, but we choose the meaning it holds within us. Here lies both the weight and the beauty of freedom; it is not an escape from responsibility, but a constant call to embrace it.
We may not be absolutely free, but neither are we entirely prisoners. We are writers in the margins of the text… reshaping what was imposed upon us and giving it new meaning.
And at the end of each day, the question is no longer: Were we free?
But rather: Did we live with enough awareness to truly be ourselves?
