The Trick That Doesn’t Last

Morning Reflection:
Not everything that works once will work again… life does not reward tricks, it rewards awareness.

Evening Reflection:
This simple story reflects a deep truth about life: relying on tricks and coincidences may bring temporary ease, but it does not build a stable path.

A salt seller had a donkey that carried bags to the market every day. One day, the donkey stumbled and fell into the water, causing the salt to dissolve and the load to become lighter. The donkey felt relieved, and from that moment on, it began repeating the same act, believing it had found a clever way to ease its burden.

But what it failed to realize was that the first time was not skill—it was coincidence. When the seller noticed the trick, he decided to change the game. He filled the bags with cotton instead of salt. When the donkey repeated the same trick, the load became much heavier instead of lighter, and the donkey struggled greatly. That day, it learned a lesson it would never forget.

Life is very much like this story… what works once may fail the next time, and what seems like an easy path can become a burden if relied upon without awareness.

True intelligence is not in repeating the same trick, but in understanding the situation. Not every shortcut brings you closer to success—some shortcuts only make the journey longer.

In the end, do not depend on what once made things easier… but learn what keeps you steady, for life never repeats the same lesson in the same way.
